Want to be part of one of the
biggest things to happen to Dumfries?
We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious
young people to help develop our plans for Moat Brae.
Every six weeks in Dumfries, after school or at weekends (lasting 2 hours)
Who Will Be There?
The meetings will be led by our friendly, creative team and the Youth Forum will be made up of young people just like you. We will keep the groups small and the atmosphere relaxed.
What Will You Be Doing?
We will present a range of specific projects to you and we really want to find out what you think and hear your views and ideas. Sometimes we will just talk, other times we may ask you to help us test some designs and activities that could end up in the National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling or the Neverland Discovery Garden.
Why Do We Need You?
When Moat Brae opens in 2018 it will be a place for young people, we need your help us test our ideas and make sure Moat Brae becomes a vibrant part of Dumfries and a major visitor attraction for visitors from all over the world.
Who Should Apply?
Anyone aged 12-21 can apply. We don’t expect you to have any experience as the meetings will be led by our creative team. You don’t even need a special interest in reading… but if you want to help make your town special, like a challenge and want to get involved in something fun and exciting that can make a difference to Dumfries, this could be a great opportunity for you.
What Do You Get Out Of It?
This kind of opportunity is great for your CV or Personal Statement. You can gain valuable experience in developing ideas and working in teams in a fun and friendly environment. It’s a great way to improve your practical and organisational skills, to network and learn how good ideas can be turned into practice and how major projects are planned and carried out.
If this could be you please get in touch. This voluntary, advisory role is open to anyone aged 12-21 but you do need to apply as numbers are limited.
How Do I Join?
Send us an email by clicking here to let us know you are interested in joining The Youth Forum and if you’d like ot become a PPMBT Young Volunteer. We will ask for your name, age and contact details.
We will get in touch with you for a short chat by phone or email (not an interview!). Places on the Youth Forum will be allocated on a first come first served basis. (If you are under 18 you will need the Letter to Parents/carers re Youth Forum requesting consent and emergency contact details)
