Everyone has a story to tell … even the littlest members of our families! Does your child love stories? Keen to nurture their imagination?
Looking for a welcoming and enjoyable parent-and-child activity?
Join us for pesky pirates, faraway lands, amazing animals or even your favourite book and cartoon characters!
In these fun and interactive sessions, children from birth to five will have the opportunity to take part in a mixture of storytelling and writing related games, activities and songs. Each week, we will explore a different story, topic or seasonal theme – pirates included! Work together with your little one to produce short stories and poems, relax while they play, or simply enjoy the company of like-minded people. No pressure to join in with everything – take it at your child’s pace.
Each session will end with a relaxed story and song time.
Start your child’s story today!
Sessions will be led by Kerrie McKinnel, a published writer and creative writing tutor. Grown-ups might like to know that the focus will be on learning through play and child-centred activities, with occasional reference (where appropriate) to the benchmarks set by Education Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence. There will also be fine motor development activities, essential in helping to strengthen the muscles needed for learning to write. But all the kids will care about is that they’re having fun! This is a special time in the week with your child to enjoy a shared love of stories.
