About this Event
Bertrada the Story Mother
Time: 1:00 – 1:30PM
Ever wondered where stories come from? Who was the first to tell a tale and let it take flight in the imagination of others? Today we know Mother Goose as the funny old lady who gave the world nursery rhymes but has this always been the case? Who are the Story Mothers, and who was the first to weave wonder and enchantment into the minds of children?
Botanica Fabula with Amanda Edmiston
Time: 1:30 – 4:30PM
Amanda Edmiston blends magical stories, elements of plant lore and aspects of traditional plant use into intriguing family friendly sessions which draw on her work Herbal Magic and Potent Potions, with a special focus for this event on the plants and legends that connect to the journey of the wild geese and the incredible environments that nurture them.
‘A dyed in the wool storyteller’, former student of herbal medicine: Amanda Edmiston, comes from a long line of storytellers, writers and artists.
Amanda says: ‘I’ve always been fascinated by plants and the stories around them, I love how they reveal how we connect to each other and our natural environment through their use’.
Her sessions weave together facts, folklore, traditional tales, history and herbal remedies using storytelling techniques to create a rich multi-sensory tapestry which audiences have described as being like ‘an enchanting and dynamic glimpse into a magical garden’.
